Lake Charles –
On June 2, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a call in reference to a theft of a credit card.
During the investigation, deputies discovered Briar Guitrau, 22, Pierre Part, LA, had activated and used the victim’s credit card. The credit card was used at several different locations in Lake Charles totaling $589.11.
During the course of investigation deputies attempted to locate Guitrau. When deputies went to a possible location to arrest him, they discovered the vehicle Guitrau had been driving, a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee,wasreported stolen through NCIC out of Florida. The vehicle was recovered and towed from the scene; however Guitrau was not there.
Later the same day the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call as to the whereabouts of Guitrau. Upon arrival Guitrau was taken into custody by deputies without incident. After further investigation it was learned Guitrau had a warrant out of Baton Rouge for unauthorized use of a movable.
When questioned by detectives, Guitrau confirmed driving the Jeep Grand Cherokee from Pensacola, Florida. Guitrau also confessed to activating and using the stolen credit card.
Guitrau was arrestedand booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft between $500 and $1500; and possession of stolen things.
Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $5,000.
