Lake Charles –
On June 7, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home on Tarpon Drive in Lake Charles in reference to a burglary in progress.
The caller advised there were two men, later identified as Jessie Dupuis, 18, and Colton Moore, 18, both of 7529 Ling Rd., Apt. B,Lake Charles, breaking into his shop. The caller also advised the men had taken a twelve pack of beer and three (3) shotguns before fleeing the scene. The victim also witnessed the men drop the shotguns at the end of the road.
Upon arrival, the victim pointed out a blue van leaving the neighborhood as the vehicle he believed the men were in. Deputies then stopped the van and questioned the driver about the incident. With the information given by the driver it led detectives to a Dupuis and Moore’s residence on Ling Road in Lake Charles. While detectives were speaking with them at the residence, Dupuis confirmed he and Moore were responsible for the burglary.
Detectives transported Dupuis and Moore to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for questioning where Dupuis and Moore confirmed the allegations.
Dupuis and Moore were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and both charged with aggravated burglary, theft, and three (3) counts of theft of a firearm. Dupuis also had an active warrant for burglary and theft.
Judge Michael Canaday set their bonds at $35,000. Dupuis also had an additional $2,500 bond set by Judge Kent Savoie for his active warrant.
The stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim.
