CPSO Investigates Early Morning Homicide

On June 22, at approximately 4:30 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a mobile home located at 101 Tousaint Rd., Lot 91, Lake Charles, in reference to a stabbing.

When deputies arrived they discovered Gregory Bryant, 42, on the floor with a stab wound to the chest.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed Bryant and his roommate, Michael Brown, 54, had an argument when Brown armed himself with a knife and stabbed Bryant. Brown fled the scene on foot and was located by deputies a short time later.  Brown confirmed he stabbed Bryant.

According to witnesses the two had been out together at a local nightclub and had been arguing throughout the evening.  The argument escalated once they returned home.  It is believed it was about money.

Brown was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.  He is being charged with second degree murder.  Judge Canaday set his bond at $1,500,000.
