CPSO Arrests Man for 4th Offense DWI

On July 31, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched the corner of Cayton Street and Nichols Street in Westlake in reference to a complainant who had followed a possible drunk driver who was swerving all over the road.  While patrolling the area, a deputy spotted the SUV described by the complainant and conducted a traffic stop.

When the deputy approached the SUV and spoke with the driver, Gary W. Hagen, Jr., 34, 7485 Highway 190 East, Ragley, he detected his speech to be very slow, slurred and incoherent and he appeared very unsteady on his feet.

After performing poorly on the standard field sobriety test, Hagen, who was convicted of DWI 3rdin Calcasieu Parish in November 2010, was arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged DWI 4thand careless operation.

His bond is still pending.

CPSO Deputies Joshua Fontenot, Larry Cormier, and Sgt. Patrick Johnson were the arresting deputies.
