On August 16, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted a stakeout on Reserve Drive in Moss Bluff due to numerous recent thefts of shingles, lumber and other building materials from area construction sites.
During the stakeout, detectives observed a white van arrive at the construction site driven by a man, later identified as Alfonso Toro-Mina, 44, Pasadena, Texas. Toro-Mina then exited the van and removed 48 bundles of shingles, valued at over $1,400, from the construction site and placed them in his van.
Toro-Mina was immediately apprehended by deputies and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with criminal trespass; theft over $500; and no driver’s license.
Judge Wilford Carter set his bond at $20,000.
CPSO Detective David Thompson is the lead investigator on this case.
