CPSO Arrests Sulphur Woman for Cruelty to a Juvenile

On September 9, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a Sulphur elementary school after receiving a complaint from school officials regarding Darlene E. Collins, 30, 2877 S. Beglis Parkway, Apt. # 701, Sulphur, physically abusing a 7 year old family member who is a student at the school.

When deputies arrived, they observed numerous bruises and marks on the child.   During further investigation, deputies discovered Collins struck the child with a belt causing whelps and severe bruises to her face, stomach, arms, legs and back.

When questioned by detectives, Collins confirmed the allegations.

Collins was arrested on September 16 and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of cruelty to a juvenile.

Judge Clayton Davis set her bond at $10,000.

CPSO Detective Michael Primeaux is the lead investigator on this case.
