CPSO Arrests Sulphur Man for Failure to Register

On October 4, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies observed a man riding a bicycle without a headlamp on it at the intersection of W. Burton Street and N. Claiborne Street in Sulphur.

Deputies spoke with the man, identified as sex offender Matthew R. Jouett, 18, 3524 Highway 90 W, Sulphur, and discovered he did not possess a sex offender identification card.  Deputies also discovered the address listed on Jouett’s Louisiana driver’s license was outdated and he had moved without notifying the proper authorities within three (3) days, as required by law for all registered sex offenders.

Jouett, who was convicted of indecent behavior with a juvenile in Calcasieu Parish in October 2012, was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.

Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $10,000.

CPSO Cpl. Joshua LeDoux was the arresting deputy on this case.
