CPSO Arrests Iowa Man for Obtaining CDS by Fraud

On October 11, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a Moss Bluff pharmacy in reference to Garet G. Hall, 33, 7450 A. Sydney Leger Road, Iowa, attempting to fill a forged prescription.

Upon arrival, deputies were advised when pharmacy personnel contacted the doctor whose name was on the prescription, it was revealed he did not authorize the prescription.

During further investigation, deputies received consent from Hall and conducted a search of his truck and recovered several stolen blank prescription pads from a local doctor’s office, three firearms which included two handguns and one rifle, an unmarked bottle containing 25 Percacet pills, and approximately $1,800 in cash.

When questioned by deputies Hall confirmed he stolen the prescription pads and has been forging his own prescriptions.

Hall was arrested at the pharmacy and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempting to obtain CDS by fraud; prohibited acts (possession of blank prescription pads); possession of CDS II (Percacet); and illegal carrying of weapons in presence of CDS.  He was released on a $4,000 bond set by Judge Kent Savoie.

CPSO Vice detectives will continue the investigation with additional charges expected.

CPSO Sr. Cpl. Kevin Fruge and Deputy Austin Peloquin were the arresting deputies in this case.
