Homeland Security
The Homeland Security Department is a one-person office located at the Sulphur Law Enforcement Center. The main purpose of this department is to help deter a terrorism attack in Calcasieu Parish.
The duties of the Homeland Security Director is as follows:
- Act as liaison officer between the various chemical refineries, industries, Office of Emergency Preparedness, other law enforcement agencies, and the CPSO;
- Report and advise promptly to the CPSO Command Staff, all actual or suspected terrorist incidents, activities, and early indicators of a terrorist attack;
- Initiate and maintain close liaison with members of the FBI Task Force;
- Conduct security seminars to requesting industries and other law enforcement agencies;
- Assist any industry with security matters as directed by CPSO Command Staff;
- Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments when directed by Staff;
- Advise and assist the CPSO Command Staff on all security matters pertaining to CPSO;
- Conduct any mission as so directed by the Command Staff.
